Pulled by China, Brazilian export of animal protein should break record in 2021
This week Rabobank released a study on meat exports from Brazil and, according to the publication, new records will be achieved in 2021. The expectation of firm Chinese demand supports the projection of 2.1 million tons for beef, 1.2 million tons of pork and 3.93 million for chicken. The increase in relation to 2020 will be 5.5% for beef, 6% for pork and 1% for chicken.
China is trying to rebuild pig farming, decimated by the African swine fever epidemic. In addition, avian influenza remains active in some regions of the Asian country, which affects local animal production. Considering that the Chinese are the main buyers of Brazilian protein, these health factors contribute to maintaining the expectation of growth in exports.
