Animal availability and external demand increase prices of cattle in Brazil

Prices for the beef in Brazil are under strong pressure due to the low availability of animals and the slaughterhouses that need to fill the slaughter scales to meet external demand, especially from China. In just one day, the domestic market price increased by 3,62% in São Paulo, closing at R$ 14,59 per kilo on Wednesday, the 24th.
The next day, there was a small drop and, according to the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics at Esalq/USP, closed at R$ 14,51 per kilo. Even so, experts believe that the high prices should remain due to the low supply of animals and the high demand from China, which is usually more attractive in the negotiation.
In addition to São Paulo, the other markets are also registering high prices for beef. In Goiás, for example, the price registered a 10% increase in 30 days.
