Pork meat: Brazil increases shipments 19%

More than 72 thousand tons of Brazilian pork meat were exported in April. This result is 19% above what was recorded in the same period of 2019. According to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), this number is boosted especially by the strong demand from Asia, which still faces problems with local production due to African swine fever.
In the accumulated result for this year, there was an increase of 28.4% in comparison with 2020. Brazil has already shipped 280.8 thousand tons of pork abroad and, according to ABPA estimates, Brazil should present an increase of 33 % in shipments until the end of the year, registering between 900 and 1 million tons in 2020.
