Brazil increases chicken meat exports
Brazil exported 348.4 thousand tons of chicken meat in February this year. According to data from the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), the number represents 10% more compared to the same period last year, when 316.7 thousand tons were exported.
In the first two months of the year, the volume shipped was 672.2 thousand tons, a 12.3% increase compared to January and February 2019 (598.4 thousand tons).
China was responsible for 17.5% of total Brazilian exports and, considering the period of last year, the volume was 59% higher. Other Asian countries stood out in the first months of 2020: South Korea imported 17,500 tons (+ 12%), Philippines imported 14,700 tons (+ 104%) and Singapore bought 18,300 tons from Brazil (+ 49%).
European Union showed a 14% growth in purchases, with a total of 40.2 thousand tons. Among the Islamic countries, the highlight was Libya, with an increase of 370% in its imports, with 16.3 thousand tons.
