Live cattle price breaks record

This week, the price of beef in Brazil has risen considerably and the live cattle’s hit a record. According to the Center for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics (Cepea/Esalq), the indicator rose 11.85% on Thursday 21st, compared to the previous day.
This is considered to be the highest overnight increase since commodity monitoring began in 1994. In the month, the cumulative increase is 33.22%.
The increase now is driven mainly by the demand in China, which still suffers from the lack of the most consumed protein in the country and seeks alternatives to feed the population. In early November, the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs reported that 1.1 million animals have already been killed because of African swine fever.
In addition, with the end of the year and the celebrations, the consumption of beef increases and, consequently, there are reflections in the price of protein.
