China enable import of more 13 Brazilian slaughterhouses
Other 13 Brazilian slaughterhouses were qualified to export meat to China. The news was confirmed and celebrated by Brazil's agriculture minister, Tereza Cristina, in a message posted on Twitter.
“Another very good news for producers and for Brazilian livestock. I just received the news that more 13 plants enabled for China. Five of pork, five of beef and three of poultry. That is the big news of the day”, she said.
Producers, entities and companies related to the livestock sector are also celebrating the news. According to the president of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), Francisco Turra, Brazil now has 16 slaughterhouses to export pork and 46 slaughterhouses for chicken meat qualified to the Chinese market.
Since the beginning of the year, China has taken the lead among the main Brazil's poultry and swine export destinations. Between January and October, the country imported 183.1 thousand tons of pork, a 40% increase over the same period last year. Regarding chicken meat, there were 444.7 thousand tons or 22% increase.
In all, 31.4% of pork and 13.3% of chicken exported by Brazil this year were shipped to China.
