Beef: 110% growth in Brazilian exports to China
Brazilian beef exports set a new record in October and this advance is driven by China, which continues to stand out among buyers, with 35% of all volume shipped overseas.
According to data from the Brazilian Association of Slaughterhouses (Abrafrigo), 65 thousand tons of protein were sent from Brazil to the Chinese, an increase of 110% compared to the same month of 2018 and 62% compared to September this year.
In October last year, China imported 31 thousand tons of Brazilian beef and, in the ninth month of 2019, 40 thousand tons were bought. In the first ten months of the year, 603,7 thousand tons of protein were imported.
The health problem faced by the Asian country, with the sacrifice of 200 million pigs, was largely responsible for the significant increase in Brazilian exports. The need for domestic supply has made China enable new slaughterhouses around the world, benefiting mainly beef producers in Brazil.
