Beef meat: China increases consumption
With a modest consumption of beef meat of 6 kilo per person per year, the Chinese seems to be changing some habits. There is a tendency in the country of distribution of this protein specially in the main national holidays.
The beef meat, considered as tasty and nutritive, is being given as gifts by the people in China. Accordingly, to the Chinese consultant Meat International Group, the preference is by the imported meat, because there is a better acceptance in the Chinese market due to the trust in the food safety of the imported product.
This habit change may be reflecting also in the export numbers of brazilian products to China. In 2017, China was responsible for 18,3% of brazilian exported meat, in 2018 this number increased to 27,2%.
Among the most popular cuts are steak, shank and flank.† The Wagyu meat is one of the Chinese main choice when choosing the meat to gift someone.
